Though this is a bit Old News, but still worth Sharing!

Gmail

I already mentioned about multiple e-mail addresses with Gmail. Suppose you have E-mail Address as follows:

abc@gmail.com

Now Gmail will automatically assign you one more address as follows:

abc@googlemail.com

So, you automatically enjoy 2 E-mail addresses on one account. See an example screenshot below:

The reason for this is, the domain gmail.com is unavailable in certain countries, in which cases users are able to use the domain googlemail.com.

Yahoo!

Yahoo! offers choosing your username using it’s 3 E-mail Services viz. yahoo.com, ymail.com and rocketmail.com. As soon as you sign up using Yahoo!, you will get the following options:

yahoo-ymail-rocketmail

The Mail features will remain same for all the above 3 domains. Now the advantage part:

1. Suppose you want an e-mail address as follows:

yourname.surname@yahoo.com

But it is unavailable (taken by some other user), than you can easily go for following usernames:

yourname.surname@ymail.com

yourname.surname@rocketmail.com

Also, if you already have yourname.surname@yahoo.com than you can easily reserve other 2 options available as well viz. yourname.surname@ymail.com and yourname.surname@rocketmail.com

So Enjoy Multiple E-mail addresses with Gmail and Yahoo!

  1. How to Add Brand New Applications in Yahoo! Mail? | Mrintech | June 10, 2009

If you are saying that yahoo offers multiple email addressed to users in form of rocketmail.com and ymail.com, I think then you are wrong(M$ Live/hotmail provides many options like delhirocks.com,mogambokhushhua.com ; fastmail also gives some options)

Yahoo(at least yahoo India) does provide multiple email to avoid spam which you didn’t mention. You can create disposable email addresses. You just need to enter a starting string which stays fixed and then you can use it(say STRING) to create addresses like STRING-(Anything)@yahoo.co.in. This address can be used for sending as well receiving emails and once you no longer need this, you can delete it. I think this is what we can call multiple addresses for same ID.

Thanks Apinder for the Comment :)

The first and foremost thing about this post is that, it talks only about Top Level Domain (.com). You are absolutely right that Country Specific Domains (like .co.in, .co.uk etc.) don’t provide multiple e-mail addresses at all. Regarding MS Hotmail, I knew about it, but we are very well aware of the quality of service it offers in comparison to the services offered by Gmail and Yahoo!

The main intention of this post is to spread awareness, so that users may grab available addresses @rocketmail.com and @ymail.com, which matches with their username @yahoo.com

And Yes! Disposable E-mail Address is utmost useful for sure.

    - Wishes :)
