Boost Wi-Fi Router’s Signal Strength using Beer/Beverage Can

Wi-Fi/WiFi/Wi Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity and allows you to connect to the internet wirelessly with certain devices and wireless enabled Laptop/Netbook/PC.

You can easily boost your Wireless Router’s Wi-Fi signal strength using a Beer/Cold Drink/Beverage Can? Here the Beverage Can will act as a Wireless Extender/Booster! Let’s check out in this post, How to do so? with proper images.

First of all you need following materials in order to make a cheap Wi-Fi Signal Booster/Extender all by yourself:

Any Beer/Cold Drink/Beverage Can
Scissors – Be very cautious while using it
Safety Knife - Be very cautious while using it
Blu Tack – A Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (Can be available in different countries with different brand name/manufacturer)

Now, Follow these steps in order to make a cheap Wi-Fi Signal Booster/Extender for your Wireless Router (Wi-Fi):

1. Clean the Beer/Cold Drink/Beverage Can very well from inside using Tap Water, so that NO Residue is left inside:

You may have to rinse the Can again and again for 2-3 times!

2. Take out the Ring-Pull from the Beverage Can carefully, as there’s no use of it and it’s an unnecessary element:

3. Cut the end of Beverage Can (the non-opening end) using a safety knife very carefully:

4. [Important Step] Now, Cut around the end with the opening almost all the way using a Safety Knife. Leave a little bit of metal near the hole (white line) attached – This part will be the base of your Homemade Wi-Fi Signal Booster/Extender:

5. Now, Cut along the middle of the can in a straight line, opposite to the piece of metal attaching the base, with the help of Scissors very carefully:

6. Be very careful and open up the middle piece of metal by bending it until it starts resembling the shape of a Parabolic Radar Dish Antenna:

7. It’s time to place the completed Wi-Fi booster/extender on your Wi-Fi router. Place it so that the antenna pokes through the opening, and stick the base of the beverage can to the router with a small piece of Blu Tack or other similar adhesive:

After all the above steps are completed, you will notice significant increase in your Wi-Fi Signal Strength, by suitably testing it with your Wi Fi Enabled Smart Phone/Laptop/Netbook/PC!

Note:

Beer Can has been used in above images for illustration purpose only. You can also use any normal and non-alcoholic Cold Drinks/Beverage Can
The Radar Dish Shaped Beverage Can will concentrate Wi-Fi Signals to a particular area where you need Wi-Fi Signals the most, instead of scattering the signal everywhere, where there’s NO use!

How to Setup/Install TATA Photon+ in Windows XP, Vista & 7?

TATA Photon Plus is the best in class Mobile Internet Device in India, which connects to your PC/Laptop via USB.

In this Post, lets check out How to Install/Setup/Configure TATA Photon Plus Prepaid/Postpaid in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 Operating Systems?, if you have recently bought the device OR want to re-install the Drivers/MODEM after System format/un-installation.

1. When you bought the device, you must have got a Starter/Activation Kit, which looks like following at the back:

Here you will find your TATA Photon Plus Account Number, which looks like a Normal Mobile Number. [This Account/Mobile Number of your TATA Photon Plus Device is also used for Recharging your Prepaid Device and for checking Usage Details Online]

2. In this Starter/Activation Kit, you will also find a TATA Photon+ Activation Card (a scratch card) which looks like following from front and back:

As you can see in the above image, Serial Number of your Activation Card, your TATA Photon+ Prepaid Account/Mobile Number and 14-Digit PIN (after scratching) is printed.

3. Normally a TATA Photon+ Dealer/Retailer activates your device instantly using the Activation Card at the time of purchase. But, in case the dealer/retailer hasn’t activated your Device, follow Step 4. below, else skip it and directly go to Step 5.

Before going into further steps, first you need to Install TATA Photon+ Drivers/MODEM on your PC/Laptop. Connect your Device to your PC/Laptop by USB Port and wait for the Setup to Start. Continue with the setup and wait for the MODEM Drivers to be installed/configured for your PC/Laptop.

Once everything is installed/configured properly, click on the TATA Photon+ Icon and wait for the program to start and detect your Device. When the program is launched and device detection process is complete, you will get the following interface:

4. [Skip this step if your device is already activated using the TATA Photon+ Activation Card]

Click on the Activate Button/Icon and a NEW Small Window will pop-up. Here you have to enter your PIN Number from the Activation Card, after suitably selecting the type of customer you are i.e. Prepaid/Postpaid:

Enter the Exact PIN as printed on your TATA Photon+ Activation Card and click on Activate Button. Since, the device is already connected to the TATA Mobile Network, your device will be activated instantly.

5. Once your device is successfully Activated with the TATA Network, click on the Settings Button/Icon and following Small Window will be displayed:

Now, here go to the Profile Tab and click on the NEW Button:

New Button will help you create a New TATA Photon+ Network Profile which helps you in connecting to the internet.

6. Now enter following information exactly:

Profile Name: Photon+ Pre-Paid

Access Number: #777 (already filled in by default)

Username: TATA Photon+ Account/Mobile Number@photon.ttsl.in i.e. 9xxxxxxxxx@photon.ttsl.in

Password: internet

* Your TATA Photon Plus Account/Mobile Number is printed on both Starter/Activation Kit and Activation Card

7. After you have entered all the above mentioned information correctly, hit the Save Button and then Hit the Default Button. It’s All Done!

Now click on the Connect Button and the device will connect to the TATA Internet Network and you can start surfing the web immediately.

Note:

Make sure your TATA Photon Plus Prepaid Device is recharged with suitable Balance before you hit the connect button, else you will be getting connection errors
