Import Contacts to Yahoo! Mail from Google Account

Gmail/Googlemail and Yahoo! Mail are widely preferred Email Services around the World. Almost all of us, use these Awesome and Free Email Services!

Now If you want to Import your Address Book/Contacts to Yahoo! Mail from Gmail/Googlemail, than this post tells How to do so!

Just follow these very simple steps for Importing Address Book/Contacts from Gmail/Googlemail to Yahoo! Mail:

1. Login to your Gmail/Google Mail Account

2. As soon as you are logged in, Click Contacts present in the Left Side of Gmail/Googlemail

3. Here Click Export, present just after the Search Box:

4. Now if you want to Export a Selected Group of Contacts, than Select the Desired Group from the Drop Down Menu. Else simply select Everyone (All Contacts), in order to Export your Entire Gmail/Googlemail Address Book:

Since here we are Exporting the Contacts to Yahoo! Mail, Select Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application) under Which Export Format?

As soon as you are done with the selection, Click Export Button and Choose where you want to save the CSV File onto your Hard Drive. This CSV File contains Names of all your Contacts, along with their respective Email Addresses.

5. Now go to Yahoo! Address Book and Login there

6. Here Select Import Option, under the Tools Menu:

7. Now From the Drop Down Menu, Select Microsoft Outlook (.CSV File):

Click Browse under Specify the file to import: and Select the Location of CSV File you just downloaded from Gmail/Googlemail. Click Import Now.

Yahoo! Mail Server will take some moments in order to process your CSV File. Once it’s processed, your whole Gmail/Googlemail Address Book is imported to your Yahoo! Mail Account.

A Sitemap lists all Pages/Posts in a particular given WordPress Blog/Website. With the help of Sitemap, you can help various Search Engines in discovering your Blog/Website Content (including URLs) that may not be discoverable by their Normal Crawling Process.

In this post we will learn (in short) about WordPress XML and XHTML Sitemaps. With the Help of both XML and XHTML Sitemaps, your WordPress Blog will get better Indexed by major Search Engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing etc.

Before going into details, let me clear you Creating/Submitting Sitemap is completely Optional. We can say a Sitemap acts as a Path for various Search Engine Bots and helps them better discover your Blog Content/URLs.

Some Important Points regarding XHTML Sitemap:

No matter whether your XHTML Sitemap Page consists of URLs greater than 100 or less than 100, It won’t hurt your blog in any aspect. Search Engine Bots may process or completely ignore this XHTML Sitemap Page, if it consists more than 100 URLs.
If you are using noindex meta tag for any of your Posts/Pages/Categories, than XHTML Sitemap is not going to change anything.

Do Search Engine Crawls Flickr Private Photos & Videos?

If you are using Flickr Photo Sharing, than a question may arise: Do Google, Yahoo!, Bing and other Search Engines crawls Flickr Private Photos/Videos and Indexes them?

The answer is NO, provided that you have set Privacy Settings correctly. In this post, we will see How to make Flickr Photos/Videos completely hidden from Search Engines along with an additional Tip!

When you are going to Upload Photos & Videos to your Flickr Account, it will ask you to Set Privacy for your Photos & Videos before the uploading process itself:

As per the above Screenshot, you have to Select Private (only you see them) option and also Check the Box before Yes under Hide these Items from Public Searches? Only after this Continue uploading your Photographs & Videos. Setting Privacy Options like above will completely Hide your Photos & Videos from all Search Engines!

If you are still more concerned, than follow this additional Tip:

As soon as the Uploading Process is over, Flickr will ask you to Enter Description for your Photos & Videos:

Click on Add a Description Link and in the immediate next page you are required to enter Description for your Photos & Videos viz. Titles, Descriptions and Tags. Now here:

Enter some really Random/Arbitrary combination of Letters, Numbers & Symbols – By this, if any How your Image comes in any Search Engine, it’s really hard to enter the Search Term for it.
Don’t Enter any Description for your Photos & Videos
Don’t Enter any Tags for your Photos & Videos – Remember Tags in Flickr acts as Keywords for your Photos & Videos

Yahoo! Increases Email Attachment Size to 25 MB!

Yes! This is of course a great news for all Yahoo! Users around the World.

Yahoo! Mail has increased the Mail Attachment Size from 10 MB to 25 MB! This means now you can attach lots of stuffs in your E-mails!

Earlier Yahoo! Mail was Offering 10 MB of file attachment per E-mail, but according to THIS post over the Official Yahoo! Mail Blog, they have increased maximum file attachment size limit to 25 MB and also added lots of new features in Yahoo! Mail.

One added advantage of this attachment size increase is that: Now whenever you send an E-mail from Gmail, which is already offering 25 MB of File Attachment, to Yahoo! Mail consisting of files whose size is upto 25 MB, your E-mail won’t bounce back to you and will get successfully delivered to the recipient’s Yahoo! Mail Inbox.

This means you can now attach larger files and multiple Photos with your Yahoo! Mail coupled with Unlimited Online Storage!

Yahoo! Hates Sending Traffic to Google!

It’s little weird but Yahoo! hates sending vistors to Google from Yahoo! Search Engine!

As soon as you type Google or Google.com or Google Search in Yahoo! Search, what you will get is as follows:

Yahoo! urges it’s users to Search for Information using it’s Search Engine Itself, instead of going to Google! It clearly mentions at the Top of another Search Box: You could go to Google. Or you could stay here and get straight to your answers.

Atleast Google don’t follow such stratedgy:

Use Flickr & Appear on Google Image Search Engine!

Flickr is one of the widely used Photo Sharing Website around the World

In order to appear on Google Image Search, it’s not necessary that you must be a celebrity! With Flickr Account you can be on Google Image Search very soon! This post tells you some very easy Search Engine Optimization Techniques for your Flickr Account.

Creating a Flickr Account is absolutely Free! You can use your existing Yahoo! Login ID for Logging In into Flickr. Flickr Free Account have got some limitations, while Flickr Pro Account have almost no limitations. No matter whether you use a Free Account or Pro Account, this post will be applicable for both.

First of all Signup for Flickr using this LINK. Already registered users of Flickr can use this LINK. Sign In using your existing Yahoo! ID.

Now follow these 2 Simple Steps for Optimizing your Flickr Accounts and Photos for Google (I will try to clear these with the help of examples from mine own Flickr Account):

1. Choosing Flickr Screen Name and Photo stream URL Efficiently

If you are Newly Singing Up for Flickr, as soon as you login with your existing Yahoo! ID, the immediate next page will ask you to Enter your Flickr Screen Name:

Here Choose your Screen Name wisely. I chose Mrinmay Bhattacharjee mrintech as my Flickr Screen Name, so that when anyone Searches for Mrinmay Bhattacharjee or mrintech in Google, he/she gets result of my Flickr Photo Stream as well.

Existing Flickr Users can change their Screen Name Again from Flickr Account Options

Now coming to Photo Stream URL, I chose /mrintech-mrinmay-bhattacharjee/ as my Photo Stream URL. Now Whenever someone searches for Mrinmay or Bhattacharjee or mrintech or Mrinmay Bhattacharjee, Google displays my Flickr Photo Stream in which above terms are present in the URL:

New Flickr Users can Click Personalize My Profile present in their Homepage as soon as they login into their New Flickr Account:

Now after creating your Flickr Buddy Account (Step No. 1), choose your Flickr Photo Stream URL and confirm it if you are satisfied; Also Once set it will become Permanent:

Existing Flickr users CAN’T change their Photo Stream URL again as once set it is permanent. But No need to worry, Read On…

2. Entering Photo Name, Description,Tags and Setting Privacy Options for Photos Efficiently

When you are going to Upload Photos to your Flickr Account, it will ask you to set Privacy for your Photos:

Make sure you DON’T Check Mark Hide these Items from Public Searches (for those Photos which you want to appear in Google Search Results as well as on Google Image Search) and also make these Images Public (Available to Anyone for viewing)

Click Upload Photos and Videos, as soon as the Upload Process is done Flickr will ask you to Enter Descriptions for your Images:

Click Add Description and Following Interface will open up for you:

Now Wisely Add Title, Description and Tags for each and every Photo, as Google will consider these for Crawling your Photos and hence displaying Search Results/Image Results. Here especially the Tags plays a very vital role, as they acts as Keywords for your Flickr Photos.

Important

Google Web Results for your Photos will be available as soon as Google Bots Crawls your Flickr Photo Stream, but it will take some days or even 1-2 Months to get appear on Google Image Search!
Web as well as Image Results are completely dependent on your Flickr Photo Stream URL, Screen Name, Title of your Photos, Description of your Photos and Tags of your Photos.
Since Yahoo! owns Flickr, your Images will be available on Yahoo! Image Search too!
The reason why your Photo Results appears fastly on Google is due to High PageRank of Flickr.com. My Photos starts appearing on Google Image Search after 18-20 Days, see yourself Google Image Search Results here
You can’t control the dimensions of Image Results appearing on Image Search Engines at all.
