Import your Mails & Contacts from Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL etc. to Gmail

Gmail provides us revolutionary features from time to time, that’s why it’s still in Beta Stage. Now if you want to switch completely to Gmail, than importing all your Contacts and Mails from other accounts outside Gmail, is very easy and will be done in a matter of few clicks.

If you want to import all your E-mails and Contacts from aol.com, aol.fr, clear.net.nz, cox.net, comcast.net, cs.com, earthlink.net, freenet.de, freeserve.co.uk, gmx.at, gmx.ch, gmx.de, gmx.net, hotmail.com, hotmail.co.uk, hotmail.de, hotmail.fr, Ihug.co.nz, juno.com, laposte.net, live.com, msn.com, netscape.com, netzero.com, neuf.fr, optonline.net, optusnet.com.au, orange.fr, orangehome.co.uk, orcon.net.nz, paradise.net.nz, rr.com, slingshot.co.nz, sprint.ca, sympatico.ca, tiscali.co.uk, verizon.netvoila.fr, wanadoo.co.uk, wanadoo.fr, web.de, worldnet.att.net, yahoo.com, yahoo.co.uk, yahoo.co.in to Gmail than you have to follow some simple steps mentioned in this Post.

Let’s say you want to Import all your Contacts and Mails from Yahoo.co.in, simply follow these steps:

1. Login to your Gmail account where you want to migrate your Mails and Contacts using this LINK

2. Now as soon as you see your Inbox, just click Settings present at the Top of your Inbox:

3. Now you can see a Tab having name Accounts and Import, simply click on it:

Note: If you are unable to see Accounts and Import Tab and you see only Accounts Tab, than it will be enabled within few days from Gmail for all Old Accounts. New accounts created with Gmail have this Accounts and Import Tab enabled by default.

4. Now you will see a Button Import Mails and Contacts, simply click on it:

5. As soon as you click on it, a New Window will Pop-up which will ask for your other Account Username:

Enter your full E-mail address as abc.xyz@yahoo.co.in and then enter your Accurate Password in the Next Step after clicking Continue:

6. Now as soon as you enter accurate information about your Yahoo.co.in account, you will see following options:

Check and Uncheck the Boxes as per your Import Requirements. Import Contacts will fetch all your Contacts (Address Book) present in your other E-mail Account, Import mail will fetch every single Existing mails from your other E-mail Account, Import New mail for next 30 Days will fetch all future E-mails to your Gmail Account from other account for 30 Days.

You can freely create a label for all incoming mails from other account to Gmail. Just checkmark Add label to All Imported Mails and enter the name of Label there. Gmail will store all incoming E-mails under this Label only.

In the Final Step, Click Start Import. The import will still continue if you leave the Settings page or sign out of Gmail.

Your contacts and/or messages will be imported. This may take 24-48 hours before you can see your imported messages. You can check the status of your import by clicking the Accounts and Imports tab on the Settings page. Once the import is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message at the top of your Inbox.

Some Important Points

If you have check marked Import New mail for next 30 Days, make sure you DON’T change the password of your other E-mail account for next 30 Days.
You can freely STOP the Import Process anytime. Just again go to Accounts and Import Tab and manage your Import Processes.
Make sure that you notify all your contacts about your New Gmail address within the next 30 Days, if you are planning a complete switch to Gmail.
