As soon as you create a new account in Gmail, it offers SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) at the time of Login only, so that your Username and Password goes to Gmail Server in Encrypted Form. Now for increased security, it’s recommended that you Enable SSL throughout your Gmail Login to Logout Session.

With SSL enabled throughout the session, each and every packet of data transfer between your Computer (Browser) and Gmail Server is completely Encrypted.

In order to Enable SSL throughout the session, just follow these simple steps:

1. Click on Settings present at the Top of your Gmail Account:

2. Now Scroll Down and you can see Browser Connection:

3. Just select Always use https, click Save Changes and it’s all done.

Now your data transactions are more secure with SSL.

Google Apps users have to stick with the default settings, which their Domain Administrator has set for them. Better ask your Domain Administrator to Enable SSL for all users for a particular domain, if SSL is disabled!
