Remove Sidebar & Add Google AdSense Search within your Wordpress Blog

Google AdSense is one of the best monetizing tool for your Wordpress Blog. Now you can Open AdSense Search Results within your Blog, instead of opening the search results in a New Window.

With the simple steps featured in this post Now you can Remove your Wordpress Theme Sidebar & Integrate Google AdSense Search within your Blog. This Template Tweak will have NO NEGATIVE affect on your Wordpress Blog theme or on your Blog Posts/Pages.

Step No. 1

  • Login into your Google AdSense account. Now go to AdSense Setup Tab and Select AdSense for Search there

  • Now fill all the required entries and now select Open Results within my Own site under the Search Results Style category

  • Now suppose your site address is http://www.abc.com, now enter http://www.abc.com/google-search, as shown in the above Screen Shot. Make sure that there is no URL like this in your site, else enter some other string.
  • Select desired Search Result Colours. Now generate the Search Box and Search Result Code by clicking Submit and Get Code. Keep this Window Open.
  • Copy the Search Box Code and paste it to the Blog Template from where you want to display the Search Box.

Step No. 2

  • You have to create a .php file to make this whole task successful. Simply add the following lines into the .php file you are creating:

<?php get_header(); ?>
<div id=”content” class=”widecolumn”>
<!– Google Search Result Snippet Begins –>

Enter Google Search Box Code Here

<!– Google Search Result Snippet Ends –>

  • Now Enter the Google Search Box Code in the Red Highlighted area in the .php file you created. Name it as gsearch.php
  • Upload this .php file to the Current theme directory you are using via FTP.

Step No. 3

  • Login to your Wordpress Account and Create a New Page Google Search. Make sure the Page Slug of this pages matches with http://www.abc.com/google-search, that you entered while setting up Google AdSense Search.
  • Now there is no need to enter anything in this Page. Just go to Page Template option of the page you are creating and select gsearch from the Drop Down Menu.

  • Publish This Page. In this page the Google Search Results will be displayed.
