Earlier I wrote a Post about Testing the Effectiveness of all Security Softwares installed on your system. I went through the firewall test and tested 3 Firewalls viz. Comodo, Kerio and Zone Alarm one by one.

Personally I feel Comodo is the best Free Firewall. Even while performing the Spyware test, Comodo easily warned me whenever the Test Files tries to change any System File / Registry Entry. Though, if you Manually Allow the change and the Spyware bypasses your firewall than only your Anti-Spyware software comes into picture.
Tech Support Alert Says the Following about Comodo:
If performance rather than ease of use is your criterion, then the Comodo firewall is the top contender. The firewall itself is very robust, and the just-released version 3 includes a well-designed intrusion detection system and Vista compatibility. Comodo also supports internet connection sharing, whereas the free versions of Kerio and ZoneAlarm do not.
On the minus side, the IDS is initially rather talkative, and this may unnecessarily alarm inexperienced users. There have also been reports that the new version 3 has some bugs, so it may be better to wait a couple of months until it’s stabilized.
Additionally, Comodo has been known to conflict with some other security products. However, for the technically initiated who can cope with these annoyances, this is an outstanding free product and an easy first choice. Make sure that you install it in “Advanced” mode, because the “Basic” installation has the HIPS, which includes the leak test protection, disabled.
My personal opinion:
- It’s necessary to install the Firewall in Advanced Mode as it will give Protection against Leak Tests for your Computer.
- There were some Minor Bugs. I experienced these Bugs while performing the Purge Operation. So make sure that your File Review List is small i.e. review them from time to time.
- NO Unnecessary Background Program Connections to Internet, so good surfing speed.
- Good Support Forum and Topics.
So anyone looking for a Free Firewall opt Comodo!
